We did our best to selectively target jumbos today achieving our main goal but unfortunately struggling with the second part of the objective - catching. Looking at an unbelievable amount of bluefin all morning; giant schools for miles and miles, we stuck it out as long as possible. Working the not biting bastards while listening to our colleagues in another zone relatively close  by putting big days together finally pried us from our purist big fish mission. While we were one hundred percent good on the quantity objective of the voyage a captain can only take so much. A few more beautiful 40-100 pound bluefin would close out this incredible run on a high note. And that’s exactly how it went. A couple of sundown opportunities followed by a last hurrah, night time hit completed our fishing time with a bang. Recognizing the exceptional results of this voyage soon we bid farewell to the “Barking Spiders” appreciative and grateful for their extraordinary history and loyalty on Royal Star. Thank you to all.

Final voyage photo honors go to Royal Star veteran and friend Robert Roncal who landed this beautiful, 70 pound class bluefin on the flyline sardine.
