Smooth ride east throughout the night gave us all ample rest. Mid morning arrival and right away we were greeted upon arrival by hungry and aggressive 50-80lb Yellowfin Tuna. Giant sonar school that erupted and bit every sardine in sight. Every bait is a bite 5 feet of the stern type fishing; now that’s long range fishing. "Good as it gets" is almost an understatement at this point. 3 hours of full speed yanking and cranking proved to be enough for everyone. The pace and size of the fishing we experienced is absolutely insane. Beat up and bruised we opted to pull anchor and try our hands at some Yellowtails. Much like our experience at the Rocks, the Tuna seem to be in the way of our intended species. A couple dozen yellows for our effort anyway. Satisfied with our bounty we will now make the push to higher latitudes trying to add a few cherries to what is already an epic trip.
Today's photo cover goes to veteran angler, Thomas Nordstrom. Thomas fish is in that 80 lb class. A fine example of the epic grade that's available to us several hundred miles south of the border.
