Change of pace

A welcome change of pace as a group of anglers notably “banged up” emerged slowly this morning. Suffice it to say that the trusted “Vitamin I” (Ibuprofen) was an essential to get things going for more than a few. Easy fishing for keeper grade yellowtail, plenty of release action on smaller ones, and a few shots at bottom exotics in continued unbelievably beautiful conditions was perfect for the occasion. By early afternoon that pace wore out and we moved on to seek additional glory offshore. I shouldn’t neglect to mention that tuna were available everywhere we stopped. Combined with what we already know signs certainly bode well for upcoming runs. The day ended in a fishing fizzle - a paltry couple of dorado were the culmination of our efforts. But the distance covered in flat calm seas set us up for a full day targeting coastal variety tomorrow. Photo today features our old friend Dr. Stuart Exall with a fine example of the yellowfin tuna grade found on this run.
