Fish Report for 7-23-2024

Final round

We mixed in some welcome variety today in both style of fishing and species. And while we didn’t set the world on fire in production the change from straight offshore driving was enjoyed by all. Back to the bluefin by late afternoon we were treated again to the incredible spectacle of tuna galore up and crashing in every direction. No shortage of fish meant plenty of effort at the rail but again production was limited to a handful of the lockjawed devils. In this size class however it only takes one. For a handful of anglers that hard earned opportunity was converted into a final round story of success. Headed for the barn after a last bruiser was captured in the final minutes we all reveled in the beautiful ride with light wind and mild seas astern. Our thanks to Pete Grey and Let’s Talk Hookup for the decades of support and friendship. And of course to this fine group of angler’s new and returning to Royal Star. Final voyage photos feature our old friend Sam Winans who joined us following a twenty year hiatus. Just like riding a bike Sam didn’t lose his touch landing this 150 pound class bluefin like the seasoned veteran he is from days of old. Additional images feature Royal Star anglers Robert Mc Clain and Richard Reid with their prized trophy bluefin tunas.
