A nice morning of easy travel north set up an early afternoon big bluefin rally. Stopping twenty miles short of our intended destination when a huge area of fish erupted in our path a two hour drift followed that provided ample opportunity for the sinker rig anglers. Beautiful fish in the 120-170 pound range, none went down without a fight. And at least half of what we hooked muscled their way to freedom. Following the welcome early excitement we were treated once again to the incredible sign of bluefin out here hitting spot after spot of fish foaming on the surface as we continued north to the hot zone. Night time ultimately proved to be a struggle but not for lack of fish. Very good schools tormented us throughout the night scurrying around possessed by some full moon demon. Not biting bastards in the end we threw in the towel with a paltry few. Switching it up we'll spend at least a couple of morning hours tomorrow fast to the bottom before a return to big bluefin busting in the afternoon. Today's image features Royal Star angler Marty Jackson rightly jubilant in triumph over this beautiful, 175 pound class Pacific Bluefin Tuna.
