Holed up

Quite a night at the island that passed in thorough security as the tail end of that nasty low pressure system slid by. Rain and gusty winds were the theme all night. Tucked up against the shoreline one hardly felt the boat move as we swung back and forth on a well secured anchor. Come morning all was fine. When the wind came around from the north west the cue was answered. Headed SSW the remainder of the day and night we appreciated a tolerable roll courtesy of a large, long interval NW swell. Planning to fit some rail time in tomorrow morning we’ll see what conditions have become following this weather.

On another note we did see quite a bit of scattered bluefin while heading south consistent with the past few years. Sharing info with the commercial fleet they mentioned the incredible distribution of fish this winter that is currently spread from outside Ensenada all the way down past Cedros island. To say the least this bodes well for the spring, summer, and fall to come.

I mention this as we have made a couple of changes to our spring schedule opening up significant availability on three voyages at the end of April - early May. This is a fantastic opportunity to jump on a shorter trip with us and take full advantage of what we anticipate will be another epic offshore bluefin season to come. I will add more details on travel days as this trip progresses. Fine weather is forecast over the next four days. We’ll see if we can make good of it. Enjoy today’s image from the archives!
