Happy 4th of July! We are blessed to live in the greatest country ever known!
On the fishing front we again lived an anglers dream come true. Yesterday the big yellows had the floor. Today, after seeing/catching a mere two yellowfin tuna among the action less than twenty four hours before, the yellowfin tuna moved into the shallows en masse. Incredible when such change occurs the fuel of our eternal fisherman's optimism was on full display. While the big yellows were still at the party they had little chance versus hoardes of voracious yellowfin tuna in the "school size" range of 14-22 pounds. Such was the action that every angler on board easily obtained their desired quantity by mid morning. Then, with abundant time to spare, we enjoyed a few hours of fun and fish watching before heading up in search of coastal variety. Our work here is done.
Photo today features Royal Star veteran and friend Paul Johnson who was slaying the tuna with his long rod and surface iron on the bow. This image captures the exuberance of the morning to perfection. Beautiful weather, idyllic setting, wide open tuna fishing - long range at its finest!
