Night one of our annual Izorline sponsored three day charter began with a bang. Long time Royal Star friend and angler Darrin Lew picked off a 190 and a handful more in the 90 - 100 pound class joined his trophy in the RSW tank during stop number one of the voyage. Primed to administer some justice spirits soared in the face of such potential. Then the rest of the night set in.
As so often happens schools of not biting bastards plagued our efforts throughout the night. No doubt there are a lot of them. Finally, following a full night of grinding, we found one that gave us a shot pre dawn. Another half dozen beauties went a long way to assuage the exhaustion of a few diehards that hung tough all night long.
And so it begins. As dawn breaks a new mosaic unfolds. The question of course is will they bite? The answer yesterday - yes. Today, who knows? By days end we certainly will. And will share the news big or small. Enjoy today's image featuring Royal Star angler Emma Kurata with her beautiful, 100 pound class bluefin coming over the rail. Job well done!
